Hello Again

Whew, It's been 3 years since my last update. I was busy moving to another island to make a new life and moving back to my hometown because my relationship didn't work well. So now, I am preparing to open my online shops (Indonesia delivery only- I will go public once it's succeed so wish me luck), creating my writing momentum, working as an admission, preparing myself to be a fully woman (stitching, crafting, cooking, etc).

I will still write here my updates about books and my store too, if it has something to do with books. if you have any other question, please leave me your comment. I will be happy to read it.

Have a nice life!

HP debuts a cheaper process for flexible displays

HP debuts a cheaper process for flexible displays

HP, in cooperation with the Flexible Display Center (FDC) at Arizona State University showed off a prototype display this week that is paper-thin, flexible, and extremely energy efficient.

The technology for a full-color "e-paper" display, the consortium said, is approximately three years away from even being field tested.

The FDC began work on a portable battlefield information screen in 2004 with a grant from the US Army. All of the current consumer "e-paper" devices (Amazon Kindle, Sony Reader, Plastic Logic Reader, etc.) use technology gleaned from FDC research, and the demo units are comparable to those commercially available E-ink displays: thin, light, and black-and-white.

So what exactly was HP showing off this week, then?

Since each flexible display is the result of a number of companies' innovations working together, HP's contribution is neither outwardly visible, nor is it simple. It is the lithographic process used in these flexible displays.

HP's Self-Aligned Imprint Lithography (SAIL) technology is a milestone for the project because it does not use photosensitive material to transfer patterns onto the substrate. In integrated circuitry, the photolithographic process can be used to build connections on the wafer, and the process often needs to be repeated on the same chip multiple times.

While displays were first completed using SAIL in May, the fabrication process is now ready for licensing, so third party manufacturers can produce e-paper displays without using photolithography, thereby stripping out a substantial portion of the materials cost in manufacturing.

The Story of Edgar Sawtelle

On Friday’s edition of “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” Ms. Winfrey announced her latest book club pick: “The Story of Edgar Sawtelle,” the debut novel by David Wroblewski, below, which came out in June and was warmly received by critics. Barnes & Noble recently picked the book as a Fall 2008 Discover Great New Writers title, and today it was named the newest Oprah's Book Club Selection. The story, influenced by both “Hamlet” and the works of Stephen King, is about a mute boy with a deep connection to the dogs bred at his family’s Wisconsin kennel. Read his first chapter here.

This book is a collection of Dee’s short stories. I must confess that “Filosofi Kopi” is my favorite short stories in this book, among the others. She is so smart and in my opinion, she is a coffee addict. If she is not, then she must be brilliant, because i could feel every taste of each coffe from her writing.

I suggest you, who is coffee addicted, to read this book. I gave it two tumbs up.
