The Story of Edgar Sawtelle

On Friday’s edition of “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” Ms. Winfrey announced her latest book club pick: “The Story of Edgar Sawtelle,” the debut novel by David Wroblewski, below, which came out in June and was warmly received by critics. Barnes & Noble recently picked the book as a Fall 2008 Discover Great New Writers title, and today it was named the newest Oprah's Book Club Selection. The story, influenced by both “Hamlet” and the works of Stephen King, is about a mute boy with a deep connection to the dogs bred at his family’s Wisconsin kennel. Read his first chapter here.

2 notes:

I am happy that you noted this particular book. The first book of a writer getting such success is very rare. I also noted this book in a recent post new york times best seller list. This blog of yours is a treat to the eyes, while the others are not. I hope you will work on the design of the other blogs.
